Norrdans launches their new tour program on Nov 18th, featuring Jo Strømgren’s KVART along with PÅ NORRBOTTEN by Mats Ek. Jo Strømgren danced in this Ek piece in his early career, being this possibly an important influence on his choreographic work to come. A small circle completed, so to speak.

The jazzdance company Oslo Danse Ensemble premieres Jo Strømgren’s 20 min long GROßSTADTSAFARI in program with other creations by Christopher Arouni, SubJazz, and Fredrik “Benke” Rydman at Dansens Hus in Oslo on Friday Nov 19th. An energetic company of 14 dancers provide the sweat, blood, and tears.

Cedar Lake Dance Company’s ongoing tour with SUNDAY AGAIN includes a two week run at the Joyce Theatre in NYC. Full programme also involves choreographies by Jacopo Godani, Didy Veldman, Alexander Ekman and Hofesh Shechter. From Oct 26th to Nov 7th.

August 25th was the premiere of THE FOUR SEASONS with the Norwegian National Ballet. The large scale full evening has been successfully received and a televised transmission by NRK will be broadcasted during Christmas. This is Strømgren’s fifth production with the Oslo company.

Jo Strømgren was on Saturday January 9th awarded the Municipality of Trondheim’s CULTURE PRIZE 2009. The event took place at the annual New Year Concert with Trondheim Symphony Orchestra. Previous recipients with international flair are amongst others actor/director Liv Ullmann, visual artist Håkon Bleken, designer Julie Skarland, and violin virtuoso Arve Tellefsen.
